About Therapeutic TheraBand
- At our physical therapy clinic, resistance bands are another important and effective physical therapy tool. They provide many benefits whether you’re looking for a challenge, need to stretch, or are doing a full workout.
- Even a set of lightweight resistance bands can provide added challenge to an exercise, which is necessary to continue progressing strength. They are often sold in sets of different levels of resistance and can be purchased as loops or long bands depending on what types of exercises you will primarily be using them for.
- With resistance bands you can also target smaller and specific muscles, such as the rotator cuff, which are usually more difficult to access with traditional exercises. Again, be careful to practice exercises that your PT deems safe, because the rotator cuff is vulnerable to further injury if put under too much stress.
- Resistance bands are long, flat, rubbery ribbons designed for resistance training. They’re inexpensive, you can take them with you anywhere, and they serve multiple purposes. Even if you’re not in physical therapy, they’re useful tools for any strengthening workout.
- In most cases, exercise bands come in a set with multiple strength levels. You can start with the lightest band when you first begin your regimen. As you recover, you can use a heavier band or combine bands together. Different strength levels can also be used for different types of exercises.
- Physical therapists use resistance bands to target specific muscles that can be difficult to isolate. One good example is the rotator cuff, which is tough to exercise with other methods.
